WOMEN'S HEART WEEK BEGINS FEBRUARY 1 WITH NATIONAL
HEART WELLNESS DAY
New Brunswick, NJ, January 24, 2003—First Lady of New Jersey, Dina Matos McGreevey is among the invitees joining a statewide group of private and public companies and organizations that will convene on February 1 for Women's Heart Wellness Day, a pilot event jointly organized by the Women's Heart Foundation of Trenton and the Women's Wellness and Healthcare Connection at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
"Our aim is to set aside one day nationally when all hospitals, coast-to-coast, will do as Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has done where the prevailing message is that heart disease is a profoundly different disease for women than it is for men," says Bonnie Arkus, the founder and volunteer director of the Women's Heart Foundation.
The event coincides with the beginning of Women's Heart Week from February 1-7, and is an educational initiative of the Women's Heart Foundation. February is also National Heart Month.

"This is public education with an undercurrent of fun that the Women's Wellness and Healthcare Connection, along with a dedicated network of sponsors, is privileged to provide," adds Marianne Balay, Director of Women's Health Services at RWJUH and Chairwoman of the Women's Heart Foundation.
Sports and healthy lifestyle advocate, Kathrine Switzer, a member of the National Distance Hall of Fame and author of the best-selling book, Running and Walking for Women over 40: the Road to Sanity and Vanity, will speak about her personal challenges, including breaking the all-male tradition of the Boston Marathon to become the first woman to finish the race. Switzer is the national spokeswoman for the Women's Heart Foundation.
"We need the experiences of lifestyle pioneers such as Kathrine Switzer to help inspire change in our lives," said Balay. Women's Health Wellness Day is an alliance of private and public sponsors including Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the Spirit of Women Foundation, Bristol-Myers Squibb, The Heart Center of New Jersey, Johnson & Johnson, Welch Foods, Inc., Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems Inc and the Daly and
